If you’re looking for a place to make the most of this quality time with your partner, the quaint town of Qawra could be exactly what you’re looking for. Read our guide to your romantic holidays in Malta for tips on where to visit with your loved one during your trip:
A day by the sea
One of the perks of staying in Qawra is that you’re never far from the sea. There are several beaches and bays in the area that are perfect for swimming and scuba diving, such as the Qawra Point, Bugibba Perched beach and the Qawra seafront. It’s also easy to travel to Golden Bay and Ghajn Tuffieha Bay from Qawra – two beautiful beaches not only great for swimming, but also for hikes, picnics and sunset chasing!
Share a romantic meal
Share your love of food and head to one of the delicious restaurants on the Qawra seaside promenade. Luzzu Restaurant is a local favourite, popular for top-quality dishes! If you’re in the mood for some more fun, why not take your partner to the Cheeky Monkey Gastropub? It’s the best place to let loose on the island!
Mdina Bastions
The original fortified city that dates back to 1000BC, Mdina is a medieval city that is full of charm. It sits atop a hill, and you can enjoy views of the island from the Mdina Bastions. It’s the perfect place to take a romantic evening stroll, stop at one of the tea shops for a sweet piece of cake, and best of all, enjoy the peace of the ‘Silent City’, where no cars are permitted to enter.
Gozo
Take a trip to the sister island of Gozo – it’s laidback, serene and full of romantic places to visit. Make sure to include the beautiful Citadel in your itinerary, as well as the gorgeous natural beaches around the island. Gozo also boasts some great spots for scuba diving, and you can find traditional restaurants dotted around the island.
Valletta
We wouldn’t be able to finish this list without mentioning the magical capital city – Valletta. Roam around the Baroque streets, visit historical buildings and spend some time at the beautiful Upper Barakka and Lower Barakka Gardens. You could also organise a special date at award-winning Grain, or take things to the next level at the exquisite Michelin-starred Under Grain, both located on Merchants Street.
