Dive in at Marsalforn Bay

Beaches | 0 min read |

One of Malta’s Top Blue Flag Beaches.

Marsalforn Bay, located in Malta’s sister island Gozo, is one of the most popular beaches on the island, mostly due to its large number or amenities and its safety and cleanliness. In fact, the bay has been awarded the Blue Flag year after year, which asserts that it’s well-equipped, secure, and up to standard!

Marsalforn is a popular summer resort, principally because a lot of Gozitan and Maltese families move there in the summer, and foreigners gather there to catch up on their sunbathing. The beach is an amalgamation of sandy and pebbly, and is placed close to the promenade, where you can go for an invigorating walk before or after your dip in the sea. The rocks that surround the beach contribute to the sunbathing space available, and provide the opportunity to swim straight into deeper waters. Moreover, the beach is ideal for families visiting with children, as the sea is protected from winds, and the waters are not that deep. Marsalforn is also famous with divers, because there are a variety of diving schools and dive sites. If you’re looking for the perfect snorkelling spot, the far side of Marsalforn Bay is ideal. The beach also offers several types of water sports and has available boat tours around Gozo and Comino for the more adventurous of our visitors.

The amenities on the beach are plentiful, and include umbrellas and sunbeds, accessibility, free Wi-Fi, toilets, water sports and dives and food and drinks. In fact, the restaurants that surround the bay often serve fresh fish. Additionally, small fishing boats dot the horizon, which give the overall atmosphere warmth and character.

If you’re visiting Gozo from Malta, you can easily get from the Gozo Ferry Terminal to Marsalforn. If you’re driving, this will take you a 23 minute drive. If you’re going by bus, you simply have to catch bus number 322 towards Marsalforn, and then walk for 7 minutes.
