AX ODYCY Hotel is proud to celebrate the remarkable achievements of our team at this year’s competitions held on Thursday 27th November at the Hilton Malta, as part of the Mediterranean Tourism Forum.
Showcasing Talent: Two Competitions, One Celebration of Hospitality
This year’s Forum featured two important competitions that shine a spotlight on the essential roles within the hospitality industry: the Waiter of the Year Competition and the newly introduced Housekeeping Attendant of the Year Competition, both organised by the Mediterranean Tourism Foundation in collaboration with the Malta Hotels and Restaurants Association.
Waiter of the Year Competition
Now in its second edition, this event focuses solely on the craft of exceptional front-of-house service. Competitors are evaluated on a series of service-driven tasks including:
- Impeccable table setup using their own accessories
- Professional wine presentation, opening, and service
- Confident communication and guest interaction
- Attentiveness, grooming, and overall professionalism
Participants prepare a three-course table setting and serve two guests, who also act as judges. No cooking is involved—this is pure service mastery.
Housekeeping Attendant of the Year Competition
Newly launched this year, the Housekeeping Attendant of the Year Competition was created to highlight the incredible skill, precision, and discipline of housekeeping professionals. Participants compete by making a bed according to rigorous international standards, judged on:
- Tight, wrinkle-free finish
- Perfect symmetry and tucking
- Speed and accuracy (completed within 10 minutes)
- Clean, organised workstation
- Flawless final presentation
This competition reflects the essential behind-the-scenes work that keeps hotels running at the highest level of quality and comfort.
