Jump for Mental Health: AX ODYCY Hosts a Successful Fundraising Event for Mental Health Awareness

ESG | 0 min read |

On Saturday 12th October, AX ODYCY Hotel in Qawra partnered up with local organisations to promote mental health awareness by hosting a unique event in its vibrant piazza. Titled “Jump for Mental Health,” the event was organised in collaboration with Jumping Fitness Malta, featuring a high-energy trampoline fitness class, a mental health talk, with all proceeds of the event going towards supporting two remarkable organizations—Richmond Foundation and Hearing Voices. The initiative combined fitness, education, and community spirit, all with the aim of raising awareness and funds for mental health support.

Fitness for a Cause: Jumping to Make a Difference

The event kicked off with a dynamic trampoline fitness sunset class led by the team from Jumping Fitness Malta. Known for their engaging and energetic workout routines, the instructors provided a fun way to get the body moving while promoting physical and mental wellbeing. The piazza at AX ODYCY was filled with participants of all ages, jumping in rhythm to the music and encouraging one another to stay active and positive. The laughter, energy, and camaraderie created a warm and supportive atmosphere, setting the tone for the evening.

Why trampoline fitness? Exercise is known to have a profound impact on mental health. It releases endorphins, which help reduce stress and anxiety, improves mood, and enhances overall well-being. By hosting this fitness session in the heart of the AX ODYCY piazza, the event made fitness accessible and fun for the local community, turning the focus to the importance of maintaining both body and mind in sync.

A Talk on Mental Health: Empowering the Community

Following the fitness class, the spotlight shifted to an equally crucial part of the event—a mental health talk delivered by a local psychologist. This session aimed to raise awareness about mental health challenges and the importance of seeking support.

Mental health continues to be a topic that needs attention and open conversation. By providing an open forum for discussion, this talk allowed attendees to reflect on their own mental wellbeing, ask questions, and learn about the resources available to them.

Supporting Two Vital Causes

All proceeds from “Jump for Mental Health” are being donated to two notable organisations that work tirelessly to support those affected by mental health issues: Richmond Foundation and Hearing Voices.

Richmond Foundation is a well-known Maltese organisation that offers services and support to individuals dealing with mental health problems. Their work, ranging from assisted living services to support programs, makes a significant difference in the lives of many across the island. By receiving a portion of the event’s profits, Richmond Foundation can continue expanding its reach and offering much-needed mental health care services.

Hearing Voices, another recipient of the funds, focuses on providing support for people with serious psychological difficulties, particularly those who experience auditory hallucinations. Their work helps individuals navigate their challenges in a safe, supportive environment, giving them the tools to live fulfilling lives despite their mental health struggles.

A Venue with a Purpose: AX ODYCY’s Commitment to the Community

AX ODYCY Hotel’s piazza served as the perfect venue for this meaningful event, transforming the space into a hub of activity, awareness, and positive change. By offering the venue free of charge, AX ODYCY demonstrated its dedication to supporting the local community and promoting essential causes such as mental health. This is not the first time the hotel has been involved in community-based initiatives, and it certainly won’t be the last.
