Lighting Up AX ODYCY in Pink: Commemorating Breast Cancer Awareness Month
and dive deeper
Every October, cities, communities, and organisations around the world come together to recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month—a time dedicated to raising awareness, encouraging early detection, and offering support to those affected by breast cancer. This year, AX ODYCY Hotel in Qawra is proud to participate by lighting up its facade in pink throughout the month of October, turning the seaside hotel into a vibrant symbol of hope and solidarity.
Breast cancer affects millions of lives worldwide, touching not only those diagnosed but their families, friends, and communities. At AX ODYCY, we believe that raising awareness is a vital step toward education, early detection, and ultimately, saving lives. This commitment is reflected not only in our illuminated facade but also in our internal campaign designed to support our staff and bring the conversation closer to home.
“Hope Starts with Awareness” Campaign
In addition to lighting up the hotel’s exterior, AX ODYCY has launched a social media and HR initiative under the slogan “Hope starts with awareness.” As part of this campaign, we invited employees to share their personal experiences with cancer, whether they’ve gone through the journey themselves or supported a loved one. These heartfelt interviews are being shared across our social media platforms, raising awareness within our wider community and creating a space for empathy, compassion, and education.
This initiative is not just about sharing stories—it’s about fostering a culture of understanding and support within our workplace. Going through cancer can be an isolating experience, but through these stories, we hope to show that no one is alone. By amplifying these voices, we aim to encourage more open conversations about breast cancer, remind people to prioritize their health, and offer support to those in need.
Showing Solidarity in Pink
As a further sign of solidarity, our employees have been encouraged to wear pink on Friday 11th and Friday 25th October. Pink is more than just a colour—it’s a global symbol of breast cancer awareness, and through this small but meaningful act, we demonstrate our unity in the fight against this disease. To deepen our commitment, a donation of €2 per employee was contributed to the cause. These contributions reflect the spirit of compassion that runs through AX ODYCY’s core values, and we are proud of our team’s eagerness to support such an important cause.
A Message from Our General Manager
AX ODYCY’s General Manager, Mr. Joseph Vella, emphasized the importance of raising awareness during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. He shared, “Lighting up the hotel in pink is our way of standing with those affected by breast cancer and reminding everyone of the power of awareness and early detection. We’re incredibly proud of our staff for their participation in this initiative and for sharing their personal stories. Together, we can create a supportive and compassionate community.”
As the pink lights glow every night in October, we hope that they serve as a reminder that, as Mr. Vella said, together, we can make a difference. At AX ODYCY Hotel, hope truly does start with awareness.
